Snickerdoodles

Since Fall is here, I thought I would post a fall themed recipe. So I usually use the recipe I have in my Betty Crocker cookbook, but today I wanted to try something different. I went online and found this recipe from Cookies and Cups, so check out her blog. I think I will probably use the Betty Crocker recipe, so I will tell you more about that at the end of this post. As usual when creaming butter and sugar, you really want to make sure you do it well. I think I creamed mine for at least 3 minutes. More time, such as 5 minutes, would be even better. Once the butter is all creamed together with the sugars, you are going to add your egg and egg yolk one at a  time.   Before we mix the eggs, we are going to add our baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla. I didn't include the clip of me adding the baking soda because I didn't want you to get it confused with the cream of tartar, but don't worry, I added it. So once all of that is is

Simple Star Cake

Today I am going to show you how to make this simple star tip cake I made using Wilton tips #1M and #105! I have a video is at the bottom of the page. It is one of my longest videos (8:00 or so), but I have included the recipe I use for Chocolate and Vanilla American Buttercream. I will have the recipe for my buttercream at the bottom of the page as well. The first thing we are going to do is make our going to do is make our buttercream. I didn't record it, but I had to make more chocolate buttercream to ice the sides and top of my cake. First, you are going to take your butter and cream it really well. I creamed mine for about three minutes, and you want to cream it until it is light in color. Once your butter is creamed, you are going to start adding your powdered sugar in four parts. When you add powdered sugar, flour, or anything else of the same consistency, always start the mixer out on slow so that the powdered sugar will not make a cloud and fly up in your face. This w

Banana Crumb Muffins

Today, I am going to show you how to make these yummy banana muffins! The first thing we are going to do is preheat our ovens to 375 degrees (F), or 190 degrees (C). Next, we are going to prep our ingredients. First we are going to mash our bananas. Take four bananas and mash them in a small bowl. Next, we are going to combine our dry ingredients. You may sift them if you want to, but I don't have a sifter so I didn't. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.  Set your dry ingredients aside until later. Now that our main ingredients are prepped, we are going to start mixing our wet ingredients. To the mashed banana, we are going to add our sugar, egg, and melted butter and mix them until they are combined. Make sure your butter is cool before adding it into your bananas. Once the wet ingredients are mixed, add the wet to the dry and fold together. Make sure not to over mix the ingredients. Befire we bake these muffins, we are going to make a cinnamon s

Blue and White Swirl Cake

So here it is....my first real cake decorating video and post! I made chocolate cake, filled with chocolate icing, and covered in blue and white flowers and stars. This cake looks a little hard to make, but in reality is very easy ! To start out, I baked two nine inch chocolate cakes, let them cool, and leveled them using my cake leveler. Then I filled and stacked them. I used store bought icing to fill the cake. More info on that below. I finally crumb coated them and put them in the freezer to chill for 15 minutes. For this cake, I made some American buttercream, and dyed half of it blue. I used some blue food coloring I had on hand, and probably put about 5-6 drops of in in my buttercream. I was worried I would not have enough buttercream to pipe on the outside of my cake if I were to fill it with my buttercream. So instead of filling my cake with the buttercream, I used a can of chocolate store bought icing I had in the pantry. So I filled and crumb coated my cakes wi

S'mores Brownies

Who here likes s'mores? If you are raising your hand, these brownies are for you! They are a delicious combination of s'mores and brownies, and are so rich and tasty! These brownies are a great treat to make during the summer. To start, chop the Hershey chocolate bars into chunks. Next, crush the graham crackers into some larger bits. Don't crush them finely, because want a good variety of large and small pieces to make good texture for our topping. Next, make two boxes of brownie mix according to the instructions on the back of the box. Bake them according to the back of the box, because baking times vary.  Once the brownies are baked, sprinkle the s'more topping and place the brownies in the oven again so the topping can melt.   S'more brownies: super tasty, rich and easy-to-make.  Get the full recipe and video below. S'more Brownies 2 boxes of brownie mix, prepared 10-12 Hershey bars, chopped 6-7 graham crakers, crushed into la

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Today we are going to be making the classic chocolate chip cookie! Two things I always recommend before starting a recipe are measuring out all of the ingredients, and preheating your oven. Measuring out your ingredients makes it easier to make your recipe, and since the ingredients are pre-measured, you are not scrambling around measuring your ingredients while making a recipe. Preheating the oven is a good thing to do because baking is a science. Most recipes need to be baked immediately so that the right chemical reactions can happen. For instance, pancakes need to be cooked immediately. Cakes as well, should usually be baked immediately. So always make sure to preheat your oven beforehand. Another thing (which I really need to do as well) is taking out your butter making the dough a little before you make the cookies. I always forget, so I usually end up softening the butter in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or so. Find the video of me making these cookies bel
